They also have competitive interest rates for $0 annual fee cards and no foreign transaction fees on the Bankwest Zero Platinum card.
Rewards credit cards
Bankwest rewards credit cards let you earn Bankwest More Rewards points on all eligible purchases. You can then redeem these points for rewards such as travel, gift cards and retail items. The eligibility requirements are different for each Bankwest credit card, and are listed in full on their review pages. But the following are requirements you'll need to meet for any Bankwest card:
Age. You must be at least 18 years old.
Income and credit history. You'll need to earn a regular income, meet a minimum annual income requirement and have a good credit rating.
How long does it take to apply?
You can apply for a Bankwest credit card in around 15 minutes online and will get a response from Bankwest moments after submitting your application. Before you apply, make sure you meet the eligibility requirements and have the necessary documents on hand.
Information and documents you need to apply
Bankwest credit card applications include basic details everyone needs to fill in, and specific information to help verify details such as your income and identity. The key details include:
Personal information. You need to provide some basic information about yourself, including your residential address, date of birth and contact details.
Identification. If you're new to Bankwest, you'll need to provide at least two of the following forms of identification: Driver’s licence, Medicare card, passport or birth certificate.
Details if you're employed. If you receive PAYG income, you have to provide your 2 most recent payslips. Note that you won't need to do this if your income is paid into a Bankwest account.
Details if you're self-employed or a subcontractor. Provide your 2 most recent Notices of Assessments from the tax office. Bankwest may also ask for copies of recent taxation and financial reports from your accountant.
Details if you receive income from superannuation. If it's a Self Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF), provide the most recent SMSF member benefit statement and a letter from your financial planner confirming payments and full details. If it's a retail super fund, provide the most recent statement of your super balance, including evidence of regular and ongoing payments. Or, the past 3 months of bank statements showing proof of this income.
Details if you receive a pension. Provide your most recent pension statement, showing current payments.
Details if you receive income from a rental property. Provide one of the following forms of proof: a current, signed rental tenancy agreement, recent bank statements showing at least 3 months of rental income, a rental statement from a managing agent showing the past 2 months of payments or your 2 most recent tax returns showing details of the rental property.
Other financial details. This includes details about your savings or other assets, as well as ongoing expenses, existing cards, loans and other liabilities.
Credit card details
During the application, you'll be asked about details of your new credit card. This can include:
Credit limit. If you have a credit limit in mind for the new card, you can include a request on the application. But keep in mind that the credit limit you get is subject to Bankwest's lending criteria and assessment, so it could be lower than the one you request.
Balance transfer. If you want to move an existing credit card debt over to your new Bankwest credit card, you'll need to include details of the amount you want transferred and the account. Just keep in mind that the balance transfer is approved separately and the amount that's transferred depends on the credit limit you get for your new Bankwest credit card.
What happens after you apply?
Once you submit your application, Bankwest will send you details of the next steps. If you're approved for the credit card, you can set up a digital version straight away and should get the physical card within 10 days.
Frequently asked questions
Bankwest Qantas Mastercard accounts allow you to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points for your everyday spending. You'll need to have an existing account with Qantas and link it with your Bankwest credit card to earn these points. Please note that you can only earn reward points on eligible purchases (excluding balance transfers, cash advances and gambling transactions).
Although there are balance transfer offers available to existing Bankwest credit cardholders, the balance transfer introductory rates you see advertised are for new customers only. If you’re an existing Bankwest customer and you’re eligible for a balance transfer, Bankwest will contact you directly with details of the offer.
When you apply for a Bankwest credit card, you will be assigned a credit limit. This is how much money Bankwest is willing to give you on your credit card. You can change your credit limit at any time after you get your credit card from Bankwest.
Credit limit increase. If you would like to request a credit limit increase on your Bankwest credit card, for whatever reason, give Bankwest a call, download a credit limit increase application form or visit a Bankwest branch to apply. Bankwest looks at your income and your expenses when they assign your credit limit. If you accepted the maximum credit limit when you first applied for the credit card and your circumstances have not changed, it’s unlikely that you will be given more credit if you apply for a limit increase. When you apply for a credit limit increase, a credit enquiry mark is recorded on your credit file.
Credit limit decrease. The same way you can request a credit limit increase, you can also request a credit limit decrease. This will reduce the amount of available credit you have on your credit card.
You can add an additional cardholder to your Bankwest credit card account, if the person is over the age of 16. You can add an additional cardholder to your account when you apply for the credit card or you can complete and send in a Bankwest additional cardholder request form.
If the additional cardholder is not already a Bankwest customer, they will need to verify their identity before a supplementary card can be issued. Please note that, as the primary cardholder, you'll be responsible for all transactions made on your additional cards.
You have a few options when making repayments with Bankwest:
BPAY. You can make payments to your Bankwest credit card from another financial institution’s internet banking facility using BPAY. Enter the Bankwest BPAY Biller Code: 9100 and use your credit card number as the reference number. It may take between three and five business days for the BPAY payment to be processed by the bank, so make sure you allow for the time it takes for the transaction to be processed when you’re making a payment to your Bankwest credit card.
Direct debit. Set up a direct debit from a transaction or savings account to automatically transfer money to your Bankwest credit card. You can choose to pay just the minimum amount, the statement balance, account balance or a fixed amount. To set up direct debit for your Bankwest credit card, fill in a direct debit request form. The form is available from on the Bankwest website.
At a branch. You can pay your Bankwest credit card in person at a Bankwest branch. If your transaction account is with another bank, you could also visit a branch to pay – just take your statement or Bankwest credit card account details.
Online banking. If you have a Bankwest transaction account, you can make a payment via the Bankwest Online Banking service. This is available for both computers and mobile devices.
Telephone banking. If you have a Bankwest transaction account, you can make a payment by calling Bankwest on 13 17 19. If your transaction account is with another bank, you could also call the telephone banking number and make a BPAY payment.
Cheque. You can post a cheque to Bankwest for your payment. If you receive paper statements, your statement will be sent in a reusable reply paid envelope to allow you to send a cheque. Just make sure you leave enough time for the cheque to be posted and processed before the due date on your statement.
You can close your Bankwest credit card account through the mobile app, online or by calling Bankwest on 13 17 19. Keep in mind that you will have to pay off the whole account before you can close the account – this step-by-step guide has full details, plus tips to help you successfully close your account.
As well as using Bankwest ATMs for free, you can also withdraw cash at any Commonwealth Bank Group ATM without attracting an ATM fee. Note that using an ATM to get money with a credit card will attract cash advance fees and charges.

I have a Bankwest Platinum Debit card what fees are charged when using overseas ATMs and purchases. Thanks
ChesterMarch 29, 2017
Hello Peter,
Thanks for your question.
As stated on https://www.finder.com.au/bank-accounts/bankwest-savings-accounts/bankwest-platinum-debit-mastercard the Bankwest Platinum Debit MasterCard does not charge any fees when using the card overseas. Though please be reminded that international ATM withdrawals attract overseas withdrawal fee since you are using a non Bankwest ATM machine. All in all that would be the only fee that may only occur when you use your Bankwest Platinum Debit MasterCard overseas.
Regards,
Chester

Hi There,
I am currently looking at the Bankwest zero platinum Mastercard but before I change I’m a little cautious of the fees.I own a 28 degrees Mastercard for travel and online purchases but will dump it the moment I decide on another card which is possibly this one. I’m trying to do a proper comparison but finder doesn’t really cater for a side by side comparison between 2 popular, yet, similar cards. Why is that? Finder allows me to do comparisons with other cards but not these 2
Thanks

Important information about this website
finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stands by our editorial principles
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
Please read our website terms of use and privacy policy for more information about our services and our approach to privacy.
We update our data regularly, but information can change between updates. Confirm details with the provider you're interested in before making a decision.
