Hi LW,
There is no eligibility requirement that specifically refers to being discharged from bankruptcy but it is up to the lender to determine your eligibility. You can discuss your situation and eligibility directly with Bankwest by calling 13 17 19.
As credit card applications are recorded on your credit report, along with details of your previous bankruptcy, speaking to lenders directly before you apply can help limit the number of listings (which affect your credit score). I hope this helps.

Hello Amy — I am a permanent resident but derive my income from a foreign pension. Would i be eligible to apply for this credit card ?

Hi Allan,
You would typically need to provide your most recent pension statement showing current payments and any other supporting documentation to show the funds are available in an Australian transaction account and/or that you have funds available to manage the card. But as this is a very specific situation, you may want to discuss it with Bankwest before you apply – the contact number is 13 17 19. I hope this helps.

Hi Tj,
For pension payments, Bankwest would require your most recent pension statement showing current payments. You would also need to meet the other eligibility requirements. Finder has guides on credit cards for people on Centrelink payments and credit cards for people who are retired or receive a pension, which both have details on different requirements and details to consider. Before you apply, you may want to contact the bank or brand directly to discuss your situation and eligibility. I hope this helps.

Hello Amy,
I wonder if the age pension is considered as constituting a valid source of income within the context of an application for this card.
[REDACTED]
Wondering if an application like this would be acceptable.
Thank you,
Raymond

Hi Raymond,
Bankwest accepts credit card applications from people who receive the pension. For proof of income, you would need to provide your most recent pension statement with details of current payments. You would also need to meet the other eligibility requirements and provide all the requested information about your circumstances – we’ve included some details about it on this review. If you have more specific questions about applying for this card, you can also contact Bankwest on 13 17 19. I hope this helps.

Currently gone from fulltime to casual work.
Will I be eligible for a credit card as bank up for travel?
What are my options ?

Hi Anita,
You would need to show a regular income of over $15,000 per year to be eligible for this card, which could include payslips from casual work. But if your work situation has recently changed, you may want to call Bankwest on 13 17 19 to discuss your situation in regards to applying for this card. Finder also has a guide to low income credit cards, which has insights about credit card income requirements that may be of assistance. I hope that helps.
